Fantastic Voyage is a media project rooted in the concept of dérive, observing and reinterpreting space and environment through a drifting, unprescribed gaze. Beginning at the nearest public point to the place of residence, it moves through the surroundings, documenting buildings, roads and pathways — their scale, materiality and function — while attending to natural elements and physical characteristics such as sound, colour, light and shadow. Along this journey, it also reflects on how personal emotional responses can be effectively visualised and conveyed.
Applying a set of rules to the numbers cast by a dice, the project generates chance-led visual experiences and carries the subtitle “A Narrative that Predicts from an Unexpected Vantage”. Although our society is made up of individuals with distinct narratives, we continue to live as the unwavering protagonists of our own stories. Here, the gaze shifts — not as the protagonist, but as the observer. By collecting and assembling countless fleeting visuals, new scenes and narratives are imagined. Within these composed scenes, we become both author and director, constructing a narrative and confronting the dérive of vision. What stories might emerge from this other world shaped through the convergence of chance?

주사위의 숫자에 규칙을 적용하여 우연한 시각 경험을 생성하는 이 프로젝트는 ‘예측하지 못한 곳에서 예측하는 이야기’라는 부제를 지니고 있습니다. 우리의 사회는 서로가 각기 다른 서사를 가지고 있지만, 철저히 각자가 주인공으로 존재하는 사회 속에서 살아갑니다. 내가 주인공이 아닌 관찰자로 시선을 확장해 봅니다. 스쳐 지나가는 수많은 시각들을 수집하고 조합하며, 그로부터 새로운 장면과 서사를 상상합니다. 조합된 장면 속에서 작가이자 감독이 되어 하나의 내러티브를 창조하고, 시각의 일탈을 마주합니다. 이렇게 우연이 결합해 형성된 또 다른 세계는 어떤 이야기를 담고 있을까요?
