‘Near and Far’ is a moving-image project that explores transition and sound through the contrasting concepts of proximity and distance. Scanned cross-sections of various food ingredients are enlarged and reduced in scale to visualise shifting perceptions of distance, while image and sound are composed to complement and reinforce one another. Developed through a combination of analogue experimentation and digital editing, the work invites viewers to reconsider the familiar internal structures of everyday ingredients from an unfamiliar perspective. In doing so, it explores the sensory experience of transition that emerges between sight and sound.
‘Near and Far’는 ‘가까움과 멂’이라는 상반된 개념을 베이스로 트랜지션 및 사운드를 탐구한 무빙 이미지 작업이다. 다양한 식재료의 단면을 스캔하고, 이 단면이 확대되고 축소되는 움직임을 통해 거리감의 변화를 시각화했으며이미지와 사운드가 서로의 의미를 보완하도록 구성했다. 아날로그적 실험과 디지털 편집 과정을 거쳐 완성된 이작업은 익숙한 재료의 내부 구조를 낯설게 바라보게 하며, 시각과 청각 사이에서 발생하는 전환의 감각을 탐색한다.
